JIMMY HERMANS

As an eight-year-old boy, he became captivated by skateboarding, captivated by the freedom, creativity, and connection it offered. Skating felt different from football: there was room for everyone, regardless of skill level, and you helped each other progress. When he changed schools and his group of friends fell apart, he was forced to quit skating due to the lack of like-minded people. That experience continues to drive his work at CityLegends today, where he is committed to connecting young people worldwide so they can continue to pursue their passion, even when their local network fades.

Later, as an engineer in healthcare technology, he helped establish the Urban Sports Performance Centre. There, he witnessed the challenges young people face in street culture, finding common ground and seizing opportunities. This observation led to the development of CityLegends: an app that helps young people discover their city, their passions, and their peers. During this journey, the disconnect between young people and their communities became painfully clear. The stigma of "just hanging out and smoking weed" deeply affected him. That's why, together with others, he founded LINES: to bridge the gap and build inclusive, vibrant cities where young people are truly seen and valued.
